MIAMI UNIVERSITY JOHN W. ALTMAN INSTITUTE FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP
SOCIAL INNOVATION WEEKEND: FOOD INSECURITY
MARCH 6-8, 2020 - FARMER SCHOOL OF BUSINESS
WHAT IS SOCIAL INNOVATION WEEKEND?
Social Innovation Weekend (SIW) is an intense three-day experience in which students, professionals and community members use entrepreneurial skills to tackle a significant social challenge.
BE A PARTICIPANT
SIW has two tracks for participants.
This is a Startup Weekend, hackathon style program for Miami University student participants. Students will join small startup teams and develop new programs / services / products to help address food insecurity. Student teams will go all-in for 48 hours straight and pitch their ideas to a panel of subject matter experts and Startup Cincy ecosystem partners at the end of the weekend. Miami students also earn course credit for participating in SIW.
This track is designed for small teams of professionals from social enterprises and non-profit/govt agency professionals focused on hunger and food insecurity. Bring your team to get entrepreneurial training and work on current projects / programs / services for your organization. Professional teams will participate in workshops and “office hours” with Miami faculty, Startup Cincy coaches, food insecurity subject matter experts, and our partner organizations. This track will run from breakfast to dinner time on Sat, Mar 7. Participants can also earn continuing education credits from Miami through this program.
If SIW sounds like something that might be right for you or your team, we want to talk to you.
